As some of you might know, two years ago  Syfy announced, Krypton, a TV series that will focus on the planet where Superman came from. The latest news is the pilot episode is about to begin filming. The show just cast a veteran actor Ian McElhinney, Barristan Selmy of Game of Thrones.

McElhinney will be playing the role of Seg-El’s grandfather, Val-El. Deadline  reports that Val-El will be “a rogue genius who believes that space exploration is a basic form of self-defense…he has tried, without success, to warn the Kryptonian elite about the arrival of an ancient threat.” The other new members of the cast includes Elliot Cowan (Da Vinci’s Demons) as Daron Vex, Chief Magistrate of Kandor; Ann Ogbomo (World War Z) as Primus Alura Zod, a military commander and Lyta Zod’s mother; Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness) as Kem, Seg-El’s best friend; Wallis Day (The Royals) as Nessa Vex, Daron’s daughter; and Aaron Pierre (Tennison) as military cadet Dev-Em.
