James Franco to Star as a Pick-up Artist in The Game

The Game is a book by investigative reporter Neil Strauss focusing on his own experiences with the pick-up artists’ community. The book was critically acclaimed after it was released under the full title of The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists and for more than two months after the publication, it remained in the top of the New York Times Bestseller List. It had another popular period when the VH1 TV show The Pickup Artist premiered in 2007.

Fans of the book will be pleased to hear that there is a movie adaptation coming for The Game.

According to Deadline, actor James Franco and his producing partner Demian Gregory signed an agreement between each other for four feature films, each of which will have a budget of $15-20 million and their first movie will be The Game. Franco will be the lead star as Strauss’ real life pickup mentor Mystery and Gregory will finance the movie through Aristocracy Group and Composite Media Capital (with James Franco’s own Rabbit Bandini Productions). The film will star shooting in 2017 and now the production team is seeking supporting cast. Here’s Strauss’ statement about his book:

“Nearly every person I meet has a strong opinion on The Game, whether they’ve read it or not. For some, it changed their lives and led to marriage and children. For others, it is one of the most terrifying things to ever happen to the dating world. For me, it is both, but I’m forever grateful for my time in the underground world of pick-up artists because it showed me that a guy who had given up all hope of ever being comfortable with himself and others could change.”

It sure is going to be an interesting movie with James Franco in the lead, fingers crossed for him at this new venture of his professional life. Follow us on social media to keep updated!
