Pacific Rim has become a moderate success but did not cover the expectations, not tha tmuch at least, at the box office. International audience, though, was interested in the movie and that kind of saved it and made it profitable. Second movie, which is titled Pacific Rim:Maelstrom, will have some changes and instead of Guillermo Del Toro, Daredevil’s season 1 showrunner, Steven DeKnight will direct it. It is epcted for the movie plot to be changed a little since it was transferred from one director to another. The son of Idris Elba’s character will be appearing, probably.
Casting news have been coming recently with John Boyega ( Star Wars: The Force Awakens ), Scott Eastwood ( Gran Torino ), Cailee Spaeny, Jing Tian ( The Great Wall ) and Levi Meaden (Aftermath) cast for the movie while the first movie’s star Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) will not be returning for the sequel.
Another start that just joined the movie is Adria Arjona ( True Detective ) although there is no information about her role yet. She is best known for her guest roles True Detective, Person of Interest and lead role in Emerald City. Adria Arjona is not only charming but a talented actress who is on the rise. So it was probably a good choice for the studio.
