No one can say Iron Man 2 is a strong link of the chain that is the MCU but there was still something good coming out of that movie. Scarlet Johansson was introduced as Natasha Romanoff also known as Black Widow. Then came Captain America: The Winter Soldier and she became the unofficial co-lead of the movie. Fans started pushing for a Black Widow solo movie  and the interest is growing especially after this year’s Captain America: Civil War.

Although we have seen Black Widow many times in the MCU movies until now, her background is still a mystery to all of us. With that much interest in it, Marvel might actually make an official announcemen any time. Scarlet Johansson also believe that it is possible to happen if the fans keep pressing for it

Kevin Feige stated they are “committed” to a solo Black Widow movie while the Russo brothers are hoping for it and Joss Whedon being interested in directing the movie. Looks like Johansson is also on board if it hapens under the right circumstances. Here’s the statement she gave to Variety:

I would like for it to happen under the right circumstances. I think there’s a lot of opportunity to mine that story line. She’s got a really rich origins story. There’s a lot of places you can go — you can bring it back to Russia. You could explore the Widow program. There’s all kinds of stuff that you could do with it. You could really uncover the identity of who this person is, where she comes from and where she’s part of.
