Rami Malek Wins An Emmy for His Role in Mr Robot

After Bryan Cranston and Jon Hamm left TV for this TV season at the very least, the competition for winning the Emmy award for the lead actor got some fresh faces in it.

Rami Malek (Mr. Robot) and Matthew Rhys (The Americans) were nominated first time for Emmys this year while Kyle Chandler (Bloodline), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan) and Kevin Spacey (House of Cards) were among other candidates.

Malek actually won the Emmy for his outstanding performans playing hacker Elliot Alderson. Malek bcame the second USA Network actor to win an Emmy award (the first was Tony Shalhoub with three wins for Monk).

Malek joked on his award making a reference to his character in the show  “Oh my God. Please tell me you’re seeing this too”.

He added “I play a young man who is, I think like so many of us, profoundly alienated. And the unfortunate thing is I’m not sure how many of us would want to hang out with a guy like Elliot. But I want to honor the Elliots because there’s a little bit of Elliot in all of us, isn’t there?”

Mr. Robot‘s second season is the cause for some real mixed reactions among the public. The first was a blast with six Emmy nominations. We hope the second one ends well and the third becomes more like the first season.
